Tristan Jackson
Board Member, Vice President
Tristan enjoys camping
on small uninhabited islands.
Tristan Jackson, born in 1982, moved to Green's Island (a smaller island next to Vinalhaven) at age six. After spending three years enrolled in Vinalhaven Elementary School, he homeschooled on Green's Island and Vinalhaven (plus one year in Ecuador with AFS) until age 18. Tristan entered Cornell University in 2001 and graduated with a double major in Psychology and Sociology in 2005. Upon returning to Vinalhaven, Tristan instructed an alternative learning program at Vinalhaven High School for two years and began work with the ARC in 2007.
Tristan's main interests are alternative education, pursuing carbon neutrality, producing food locally, and developing small community self–sufficiency.
